New burlesque poster

Roxanne Von Noir is a burlesque dancer based in London who presents a monthly burlesque, comedy and music showcase night called Vivacious Variety Virgins at the Cavendish Arms pub in Stockwell, south London. Here's a new event poster I've just completed for her, which follows on from the first design I did earlier this year:


I was asked initially to give the art a 1940s pin-up/movie poster look, and this second version is my attempt to nail it. It's been a good opportunity to research art by the likes of Gil Elvgren and Peter Driben for inspiration, and (nerd alert!) to experiment with authentic-looking 1940s-style typefaces and graphic design!

Incidentally, Vivacious Variety Virgins is cracking good fun, it's free and it's a guaranteed good night out. Nice pub too! The next event takes place this coming Thursday night, November 4th. See you down there!
